But, LeaAnn isn't going to be there when the girls compete in the AAU Junior Olympic Gamesnext week. Not because she isn't a great coach, but because she can't. Three weeks ago, Leanne was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer and needs treatment.
When the girls found out, the AAU Junior Olympic Gamesbecame their springboard to get her help. Tatiana Rice says, "We know we wanted to get a fundraiser to help." The girls raised over one thousand dollars for LeaAnn's family and a national breast cancer organization. Kallie says, "Whenever I asked for donation, I said we were going to competition for our Coach LeaAnn." With the cameras rolling, the girls surprised their coach with a check at their last practice together before the AAU Junior Olympic Games. LeaAnn says, "I can't believe they are doing this for me. That they are doing this for my family and I." Although LeaAnn won't be able to cheer girls on the girls at the competition, they won't be far from her mind. The girls will be wearing breast cancer awareness leotards at the meet and will be dedicating their performance to their coach. Tatiana says, "I keep my mind on LeaAnn so I know everything is for her." Breanna says, "I will be think about LeaAnn the whole way and I will be knowing that her reason why I am here is because of LeaAnn and I'm doing this one hundred percent for her."
