Daytona Beach, Florida – Eddie Wortman was an amazing man, who’s gentle spirit, kind heart, and love of gymnastics touched everyone who knew him. His lasting impact on the gymnastics community will live on, thanks to Team Florida AAU Gymnastics, who dedicated their scholarship program in his  honor. Each year, the Eddie Wortman Senior Scholarship program awards all Team Florida graduating seniors with a scholarship. Eddie believed that all seniors should receive the award, not just one, as they were all deserving and winners.

At the 2016 AAU Team Florida Gymnastics State Meet, nine outstanding  graduating seniors from across the district received the Eddie Wortman Senior Scholarship, each in the amount of $800.00. The room was filled with tears, smiles, laughter and even sweat, as each recipient and their families made their way to the stage to receive their award, presented by Eddie’s parents, Phil and Gail Wortman.

Congratulations to the 2016 Eddie Wortman Team Florida AAU Gymnastics Senior Scholarship Recipients: Emily Bell, Mallory Byrd, Jasmine Caya, Lisa Cochran, Valeria Gunning, Jasmine McIver, Kimberly Musall, Rikianne O’Byrne, and Brittney Vanravenswaay.

AAU Gymnastics wishes you all the best in your future endeavors!
