ORLANDO, Fla. (June 1, 2023) – The AAU Gymnastics National Championships are back in Orlando, Florida! Athletes are coming from around the country to stick the landing and take home an AAU National Championship. The four-day event will flip into action on June 30 and finish off on Monday, July 3.

The biggest event of the 2023 AAU Gymnastics season will see more than 3,070 athletes competing and over 580 coaches from 35 different AAU districts, all with a common dream of winning gold. Athletes will be split into three divisions: Girls Division, Special Stars, and the Ladies Division.

The Girls Division is divided into different competition levels ranging from Level 1-8, Open Optional, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond divisions. The Ladies Division, for athletes 18 and older, will be divided into Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Open Optional divisions.

This year, the Special Stars Division is leaping to new heights.  This newly written program for AAU Gymnastics is designed for athletes with special needs. There will be more than 24 special needs athletes competing at the 2023 AAU Gymnastics Nationals. This is a record for the highest number of athletes participating in the Special Stars Division.

Every athlete will be awarded an AAU National Championship All-Around medal. Individual event medals will also be awarded in each age division. The National All-American Award will be presented to the highest all-around score regardless of age in each level of each session. National Team members will be determined based on the top three scores in each event in each level during each session.

AAU Gymnastics is excited to be partnering again with the Kids Helping Kids Charity program this year. This year, AAU is proud to support the Peyton Project. The Peyton Project is a nonprofit organization with a desire to help non-verbal individuals with autism. Finding a way to communicate can be difficult for many individuals and families. The Peyton Project’s hope is to provide resources to make this journey easier and help give assistance to those in need.
